Infertility demands great expertise best accomplished by a dedicated group of specialists. A reproductive endocrinologist is responsible for patient screening, ovulation stimulation, egg retrieval, embryo placement and assesment of the luteal phase following embryo transfer. The laboratory director, a biologist or physician, is in charge of seminal testing during the initial work-up, sperm-egg preparation and interaction, and embryo culture prior to transfer. Cryopreservation and subsequent thawing of sperm, embryos, and oocytes, as well as the ICSI component and genetic sampling of the embryo fall into the laboratory director's domain. The nurse coordinator whose task it is to ensure that events occur smoothly and in the proper sequence. She is the link between the patient couple and the rest of the team.

Maria is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and licensed by the State of Texas to provide family centered health care to patients of all ages. Her scope of practice encompasses health promotion and health maintenance education, diagnosis and management of common health care problems, employment and sports physical examinations, prenatal and routine well-women care. Maria's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Sicence from the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing. Maria is a native from Big Spring, Texas. She has worked in Women's health care for twelve years. She has been with West Texas Reproductive Center since 2000. During her undergraduate studies she has worked as a registered nurse where she has gained a wide variety of experience in infertility, family care and women's health care. maria strives to provide the best health care possible. She believes in acquiring a comprehensive evaluation of every patient by takeing time to listen and understand their particular needs. her true desire is to cultivate a proffessional enviroment where each patient feels comfortable, recieves focused attention and is given competent care. |
